1.    review the parts of speech and the basic components of a sentence.

 

2.    identify sentence fragments and run-ons and utilize various techniques for correcting them.

 

3.    capitalize, paragraph, and spell correctly.

 

Written and Oral

 

1.    generate subjects for writing with free writing, clustering, or other selecting activities.

 

2.    compose effective focus/thesis statements.

 

3.    develop main idea and content fully focused on a prompt with relevant, thorough, and effective support.

 

4.    compose unified and coherent paragraphs consisting of multiple sentences and featuring topic sentences, transitions, adequate support, and focus.

 

5.    organize writing so that it has an engaging introduction, logical and effective development of ideas, and a satisfying conclusion.

 

6.    revise for effectiveness, style, and economy.

 

7.    follow specific guidelines established for a final draft.

 

8.    compose correctly formatted business letters.

 

9.    use writing to develop job acquisition skills.

 

10. practice answering essay test questions.

 

11. develop writing fluidity through frequent, informal journal writings.
