Reading
Students will:
Comprehension
1. paraphrase, summarize, synthesize, and
evaluate information from a variety of texts and genre.
2. identify main idea, supporting details,
and sequence in literary and expository text.
3. infer and predict using information in a
variety of text and genres.
4. monitor own comprehension and make
modifications when understanding breaks down by rereading a portion, using
guided reading aides, and using contextual information.
5. use prior knowledge of subject and text
structure to make predictions of content and purpose of text.
6. use text structure, such as cause and
effect, to recognize and relate relationships in their own words.
7. use text structure, such as comparisons
and contrasts to relate the similarities and differences in comparable
concepts.
8. distinguish the different purposes for
reading.
9. demonstrate phonetic awareness.
10. locate meanings, pronunciations, and
derivations of unfamiliar words using dictionaries, glossaries, and class
sharing.
Written and Oral
