4331.3 Professional Growth Incentive Plan


l. This policy provides teachers and other professional staff members who are below the longevity line on the existing salary schedule a financial incentive to encourage continued professional growth. This policy does not affect the longevity salary increase in the salary schedule.

2. To participate in this program, eligible teachers may submit a proposal to their building principals. The building principal will submit plans from their building to the administration team for approval. The staff member and principal must decide on the percentage of pay the proposal will earn, based upon the amount of time expected to complete the project. All parties have the option to reevaluate the percentage of pay earned after completion, should the project require more or less work than originally planned.

3. Upon approval, the teacher will complete the project within that school year. If more time is required, extensions can be approved by the building principal.

4. When the project is completed, the teacher will submit a goal completion form and a written summary of the project to the administration team through the building principal. The summary must be at least two paragraphs, but not more than one page.

5. After the administration team accepts completion of the proposal, the teacher will be paid using the following schedule, based on current salary:

6. PROFESSIONAL GROWTH PLANS

a. All professional growth plans must relate to one or more of the district goals as presented on the district mission and goals document.

b. All goals must be beyond the individual goal level as expected of each licensed staff member in the district. Goals should have impact at the grade level, department level, or school level.

c. Licensed staff members may participate in the program at the 5% level for a period not to exceed three consecutive years.

d. Incentive pay will not be granted for fulfilling activities or roles where a standard stipend is in place.

e. A minimum of 10 hours must involve implementation or application activities.
