4352 Leave of Absence


It shall be the policy of the Board of Education to permit or allow a limited number of leaves of absence to certificated members of the school district under the following regulations:

Non-Probationary Status in Moffat County Schools

Such leaves may be granted for one year.

The teacher may return for further service in the school district to a position for which they are qualified.

The proposal must be approved in advance by the Superintendent.

Such leaves to be without pay.

Teachers desiring such leave shall make application to the Superintendent by April 1.

Reasons for the request must be stated in the application and the following conditions shall prevail:

1. The teacher shall retain non-probationary status.

2. Upon return from the leave of absence, the teacher shall be placed on the appropriate step of the salary schedule as though the teacher had not been on leave; however, the teacher shall not gain a step for the year of absence.

3. The employee would have the option to maintain and pay own insurance.

An employee on leave must notify the school district in writing of their intent to return by April 1st preceding the opening of school.
