6170 Preprimary Education
The following guidelines and criteria have been established for the admission, placement and administration of the districts preschool program and as pursuant to applicable laws:
1. Students without special needs will be accepted in the following priority:
a. Children who have applied and been enrolled in the Colorado
Preschool and Kindergarten Program (CPKP).
b. Children whose primary language is not English and do not qualify for early
childhood special education or the CPKP Program.
c. Children of staff members
d. All other children
2. The ratio will be limited to a maximum of 2 students with special needs to 1 student without special needs.
3. Provided there are no students with significant support needs (severe/profound), the group size will be limited to a maximum of 15 per preschool class and the ratio shall be no greater than 1 teacher per 8 preschool students. The administration reserves the right to adjust class sizes and ratios to a lower number based upon the special needs of individual or groups of students.
4. Tuition will be charged to students not eligible for early childhood special education services for CPKP on a sliding fee scale, payable in advance on a monthly basis. A tuition rate will be established by administration annually. The monthly tuition amount will equal that rate divided by nine months. Tuition payments may be paid in advance or in monthly installments. Any outstanding balance at the conclusion of the school year will be forwarded to the finance department for collection.
a. Students who qualify for free lunch under the federal guidelines will be charged 50% of the annual established tuition rate.
b. Students who qualify for reduced lunch under the federal guidelines will be
charged 75% of the annual established tuition rate.
c. Students who do not qualify for free or reduced price lunch under federal
guidelines will be charged 100% of the annual established tuition rate.
d. The preschool secretary will send each parent/guardian an invoice for
tuition each month.
e. Upon collection, the tuition funds will be deposited in the general fund account.
For families applying for a reduction in tuition, the following process will be followed:
a. Parent/Guardian will complete and return tuition reduction request application.
b. Preschool secretary will forward the tuition application to the preschool administrator.
c. Using the income guidelines for free and reduced price meals, the preschool administrator will determine the tuition rate.
d. The administrator will submit the name of the family/child to the preschool secretary who will use this information for monthly tuition billing, keeping it on file in a confidential manner.
