Introduction
The Jolly Postman needs to deliver his letters.  You are to help him by writing different types of letters to fairytale characters.



The Task
Work with a partner.  You will help the Jolly Postman by:
     *making a birthday invitation
     *writing a friendly letter
     *creating a postcard
 
 
 
 
 



The Process

1.   Birthday invitations are fun to get.  They contain important information for attending someone's party.  Decide which fairy tale character will receive your invitation and print it out.  Click on the paw for a worksheet to print out and complete in pencil. 
 
 

2.  Everyone likes to find a letter from a friend in their mailbox.  You and your partner are to write a friendly letter to a different fairy tale character and print it out.  Click on the paw for a worksheet to print out and complete in pencil. 

3.  Postcards are special.  They are not sent in an envelope.  Often we send them to friends or family while we are on vacation.  Visit an author's site  and create a postcard by clicking the paw. 
 
 

Obectives:  The studets will communicate at leat 75% accuracy according to step 3 (developing level) 6 Trait Writing Assessment where applicable.


Evaluation
  1.)    You must complete all three activities. 

  2.)Each activitiy is worth 100 points. All three activities
can earn you 300 points.
 

 3.)   You must complete and print each activity before you move to the next task.
 
 
 
 
 



Conclusion

  Now that  you have finished your three activities, you can create a map on Kid Pix.   It can include the route the postman would take to deliver your letter to the three fairytale people you have chosen.

Standards/Objectives
*Begin to use paragraph form.
*Identify and use appropriate writing in:  stories, book reports, letters, invitations, using complete sentences and correct punctuation in paragraph form.
*Begin to write a thought or idea in a paragraph.
*Proofread their writing for letter form, spelling punctuation, capitalization, neatness an making corrections.
