Welcome!

Promoting the lifelong love of reading! I can’t imagine a better way to spend my time. I am very proud to be affiliated with the Sagebrush Reading Council in Northwestern Colorado as President. We are a local council of the Colorado Council of the International Reading Association (CCIRA). We have many dedicated members that work hard to make literacy fun and meaningful to both students and parents. We have carnivals for children, adult book clubs, author visits, study groups and much, much more. We have been honored with the Columbine Award from CCIRA and the Honor Council Award from the International Reading Association (IRA).

Ongoing Projects

Books in Offices Project

We would like to send out a special thank you to Shannon Samuelson, Janele Husband, Lori Dodge, and Shannon Young for volunteering to help Sheryl Spears with the Books In Offices Project. Sheryl has been supplying books to several dentist offices, Moffat Family Clinic, vetrenarian offices, and three preschools.

Backpacks for Kids partnering with Sagebrush Reading Council

The Drug Endangered Children's Task Force (DEC) has been working to create protocols for community response when a child is removed from a dangerous drug environment.  Because the children are not allowed to take any of their belongings with them, including the clothes on their back, each child is presented with a brand new backpack filled with clothes, toiletries, age appropriate gifts, a stuffed animal and several books.  The books have been provided by Sagebrush Reading Council.  If you are interested in "sponsoring" a backpack or any items, please contact Shannon Samuelson at 824-7018 or by email: shannon.samuelson@moffatsd.org.
