November 2026 Bond Election Information

Strong public schools are the heart of strong communities in all corners of the United States. In Moffat County, that connection is easy to see as the community has been generous through the years and provided excellent support, resources and facilities for students. MCSD intends to maintain the community’s past investments and continue our commitment to each and every student in our schools.

Moffat County School District intends to schedule a bond referendum election for Tuesday, November 3, 2026, as part of the general election ballot. The school board will vote to officially schedule the election at its August 24 meeting.

Maintaining Facilities for Future Generations

Without raising taxes for district residents, the district will ask Moffat County voters to consider recommitting to the current tax rate, which was initially approved 20 years ago to construct Craig Middle School. While many of the projects that would be funded by the bond measure are not flashy or immediately noticeable, they are essential to the operation of our facilities, including replacing roofs, repaving parking lots, updating HVAC equipment and completing other repairs to maintain the schools. These repairs will help to maintain the past investments made by our community.

No Additional Costs to Residents

Approval of the bond referendum would generate $37 million without raising taxes for residents. The previously approved tax rate of 6.14 mills would continue without additional impact on residents. The same funds that were generated by the 2006 bond measure would simply continue for another 20 years, providing consistent funding to important projects.

What We Are Not Doing

This proposal does not involve constructing or renovating schools, instead focusing on continuing our commitment to maintaining our schools so that they last well into the future. This proposal is different from the bond that was rejected by voters in 2021 and is focused on the essential items that will allow our facilities to continue effectively serving students.

Committed to Clarity

The district is required by law to provide only factual information about any potential bond measure and cannot advocate for or against its passage. We are committed to staying connected with our community with transparency and clarity. As the Board of Education moves closer to a final decision to put a question on the November ballot, the district will be working to address any questions from the community and preparing materials to allow each and every resident to make an informed decision on election day.
