What a great start to the school year! It has been wonderful to welcome our returning Bulldogs back to MCHS and especially to see so many new students joining our school community. There is a great energy in the building, and learning, questioning, creating, reading, writing, solving problems, and thinking are already well underway.
As we settle into the year, one small thing makes a big difference: get to class on time and ready to learn. Every minute matters. And while you're there, remember to honor the educator in the room. Our teachers have spent enormous time, thought, and care preparing for our students. As Nelson Mandela famously said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Treat the people who have chosen to educate you — and one another — with respect, curiosity, and kindness.
A special thank you this week to Ms. Knez, whose work has helped our students and school get off to a strong start; to our counselors, who have been working nonstop to help students find their places, solve problems, and begin the year successfully; and to our school secretaries, who somehow keep approximately ten thousand moving pieces moving in the right direction every day. We appreciate you!
And finally: Bulldogs, get ready. Next Friday, August 28, we take on Steamboat Springs. Bring your Bulldog pride, bring your people, and come out to support our team in one of our great rivalry games.
It's good to be back. Let's make it a great year, Bulldogs.
Go Bulldogs!

¡Vamos Bulldogs!

Attendance Matters: Show Up!
Every school day counts! It is easy to think that missing "just one day a month" is harmless, but that adds up to 10 missed days — or two full weeks of learning — over the school year. In high school, lessons move fast and build on each other daily. Missing class makes it harder to keep up, earn course credits, and stay on track for graduation.
Let's work together to build strong attendance habits. Unless your student is truly sick, help them make it to school every single day. Thank you for your partnership in keeping our students moving forward!

¡Vamos Bulldogs!

Why We NWEA Test
Por Qué Aplicamos el NWEA
NWEA MAP Growth is a tool that helps us understand where students are academically. It shows us strengths, areas for growth, and next steps so we can support every student in reaching their potential.

NWEA + WIN Time
NWEA + Tiempo WIN
NWEA results are one factor we use when determining WIN (What I Need) placements — time built into the day for instruction based on individual needs. We also consider classroom assessments, course grades, teacher recommendations, and student progress.

A Test Score Does Not Define a Student
Students have different strengths, learning experiences, and areas of need. NWEA is just one tool we use to better understand students and help them succeed. Our focus: growth, progress, forward.
Nuestro enfoque: crecimiento, progreso, hacia adelante.
Our district mission: educate and inspire students to thrive in an environment of change — focusing on every child, believing every student can learn, and pursuing constant improvement.
