PARENT PARTNERSHIP MEETINGS

We would like to encourage parents to attend our Parent Partnership meetings on the third Tuesday of every month, 6 - 7 p.m., in the CIS Library Media Center

Pencils, Pencils
The library has pencils, erasers, and other school supplies for sale when and if our students need them. Prices for these items vary.

The Wal-Mart Kids Recycling Challenge is a fun and educational program that teaches elementary school students in the Western U.S. about the importance of recycling while earning money for their schools!
CIS will earn $5.00 for every 60-gallon collection bag we fill with plastic shopping and grocery bags and bring to the Steamboat Wal-Mart store for recycling.Schools are grouped into regions. The ten schools in each region to bring in the most collection bags win additional rewards:
1st Place: $3,000 PLUS an entertaining school wide assembly
2nd Place: $2,000
3rd Place: $1,000
4th - 10th Places: $250 each
The Kids Recycling Challenge runs until March 30, 2007. CIS will have a clearly marked dumpster (see the logo), placed near the front of our building, where you can deposit your plastic shopping bags. All proceeds from this will go toward purchasing supplies needed at CIS. Call CIS for more information!

If you shop at City Market and would like to help out CIS, you can do so in a very simple way... and it costs nothing to you! Craig Intermediate School has cards provided by City Market available at the office. If your fill out the card and return it to CIS, we will mail them to City market. Then everytime you purchase anything from City Market and use your value card, CIS will get a percentage of your purchases. You need to do nothing except fill out and return the card to CIS and then make your usual purchases at City Market. CIS will benefit by receiving checks from City Market which we can then use for extra things needed at Craig Intermediate! What an easy way to help out your school!

Kids and Cars - A Safety Issue

We want to extend our appreciation to parents who are using our drop off area, the

"Kiss and Go Zone"

If you are dropping off or picking up your child at Craig Intermediate School, please keep the following in mind:
..You may use the “Kiss and Go” Zone on the northeast corner of the building. Just look for the cones and follow the parking lot arrows. Please avoid the front of the building due to the congestion involved at the beginning and the end of the day when kids are trying to use the crosswalks.
oVehicles other than school busses should not use the roadway located to the north and to the rear of CIS. Students in gym classes use these fields and vehicles traveling through this area present an unnecessary danger to them.
..We welcome police officers to help us monitor or school traffic patterns for safety. You can best help your kids by encouraging them to use the crosswalks, remind them how to properly use the crosswalks by first looking left, then right, then left again before crossing, ride their bikes using the rules of the road, wearing helmets, by being a slow and defensive driver and showing patience... ---------------------------------------->

(Please read more about the drop off zone on our Information page)

..Finally, please drive cautiously. I have received reports of “near misses” in the past by drivers who narrowly miss students who are walking or riding a bike. Most times the students are likely not paying as much attention as they should. But being in the right won't ease the tragedy of an accident. Our streets are wide-open. Drivers sometimes speed, kids feel invulnerable and when you throw in early-morning sunlight, upcoming summer break, cell phones, eating breakfast behind the wheel, or just being late for an appointment, well, the opportunities for an accident are magnified.
Thank you for helping us to be safe at CIS!

Attendance Reminder

We ask that parents and/or guardians follow established procedures when a student is going to be absent or tardy from school. If your child is to be out of school and you know of this absence, we ask that you notify Mrs. Antonson in our office ahead of time. If your son or daughter is leaving with a parent during school hours, he or she needs a Blue Pass from the office so we can insure your child's safety during the day. Under no circumstances will a student be allowed to leave campus without first obtaining a Blue Pass. If a student leaves campus without first obtaining a Blue Pass it is considered a truancy and presents an unacceptable safety hazard for that child. If a child leaves campus in a manner that does not comply with our policy, then a reentry meeting will occur with the Principal and the Dean of Students to ensure compliance with this safety and security issue.

INTERVENTIONS

It is the mission of Moffat County School District to provide quality, research-based academic services to students. We continue to identify what it is students need to know, to monitor their academic progress and provide interventions for those students that are not learning. Some students may be identified as being able to benefit from targeted assistance in one or more academics areas. These services may be provided by either regular education, special education, education specialists, or literacy and math intervention staff. Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions.
