FROM CRAIG ROTARY:
Rotary Club of Craig has been a long-time advocate of literacy, supporting kids in growing their reading skills and developing a love for stories and storytelling. The Book Buddies program was established in 1998, whereby Rotarians read to 2nd graders at all Moffat County elementary schools once a month throughout the school year, and at each visit give every 2nd grade student a book to take home to build their own library. In January 2024, Rotary Club of Craig expanded its literacy programming by establishing Little Libraries across Craig, in Maybell, and in Hayden. The Little Library program follows a simple philosophy: "Take a Book, Leave a Book." With books for children, teens, and adults, all community members are encouraged to take a book for their own enjoyment, and return later to donate a book to be enjoyed by others. It's "paying it forward" with books! Rotary Club of Craig has installed eight Little Libraries this winter, and will install five more this spring.
The Little Library boxes were built by Hayden FFA under the direction of Eric Wellman.
